Performance Course 2

This course is designed for those “bitten by the stagebug” to further cultivate a wide range of theatrical performance skills as well as provide experience in film acting. A closing program will take place on Saturday, June 2nd  in which “every star can shine” through monologues, production of an original play with music, choreography/dance and film. The film project for the Winter 2018 Twelve Week Course will be a fun “Descendents” parody.

 

Class Schedule and Location

Classes will be held at Kedron Elementary from 3:00-6:00PM on the following Fridays in room 4113 with some use of the cafeteria stage and other school areas:

These regular Friday classes will be devoted to creative dramatics activities, skill practice, improvisation, application of drama terminology, rehearsal/filming of movie scenes and rehearsal of original play with music.  

 

Students who attend Kedron Elementary may come directly to Mrs. Beaucham’s room at the 2:30 dismissal bell to await official start of drama class each week provided that their homeroom teacher has been notified by a parent.

Private Sessions

Each child will have at least two one-hour private sessions. More may be requested to ensure student confidence for closing program. For new Premiere students, the private sessions will focus on monologue and supporting role in play with music preparation. For seasoned Master students, the private sessions will focus on lead role original play with music preparation. Private sessions options will be offered at Kedron Elementary on Monday through Friday in Room 4113 and at 111 Windalier Ridge PTC (Mrs. Beaucham’s home) on most Saturdays and Sundays. Private Sessions will be scheduled through a shared sign up document indicating available time slots.

 

Closing Program Details

Closing Program will be Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:15 at Sams Auditorium at 205 Lafayette Avenue (Tiger Trail), Fayetteville.

 

Each Premier student will perform a monologue based on a self-selected character from a chosen work and provide supporting roles in scene work. Master students will play a lead role in the dog park based play with music. Student character type preference is considered in the creation of the play with music. Students may elect to sing/dance as part of their monologue or play performance. All students will be showcased in the group dance number and film.

 

Important Dates and Times for Closing Program

  • Mandatory Run Through of Scenes for the closing program will be held on both Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th at Kedron Elementary from 5:00-8:00 PM.

  • Optional Premiere Student Monologue Rehearsal will be available on Thursday, May 31st from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

  • Mandatory Dress Rehearsal and Full Run Through will be on Friday, June 1st from 5:00-8:30 PM at Sams Auditorium at 205 Lafayette Avenue (Tiger Trail), Fayetteville.

  • Mandatory Tech Rehearsal will be from 2:00-5:00PM on Saturday, June 2nd at Sams Auditorium at 205 Lafayette Avenue (Tiger Trail), Fayetteville.

  • Makeup and Costume Prep will be from 5:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, June 2nd 16th at Sams Auditorium prior to start of closing program.

  • 7:10 Lead Role Performances within play with music by Master Students with supporting roles provided by Premier Students

  • 8:15 Red Carpet Walk/Film Trailer of Descendants Parody

  • 8:30 Final Bows

 

Parents will be encouraged to place a group snack item on the “buffet table” in the “Green Room” (prep/waiting room) which is directly adjacent to the left side of Sam’s Auditorium on for the cast to enjoy on show day.

 

Cast Party & Premier of Descendants Parody Movie

Sunday, June 10th from 2:30-4:30 PM at Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center.]Pizza and refreshment will be provided. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend.

 

Registration Options

  1. The best way to ensure your child has a spot is to contact Amy Beaucham at 678-416-6004 or beaucham.amy@mail.fcboe.org. Once a spot is secured by phone or email with Mrs. Beaucham, you can schedule a quick and convenient official registration with Mrs. Beaucham at Kedron Elementary (200 Kedron Drive, PTC). Please provide a check or money order made out to Fayette County Board of Education for the $300 tuition.
     

  2. Official registration and payment (including a credit card option) can also be completed at the Community School office at 205 Lafayette Ave, Fayetteville, GA. All checks should be made payable to FCBOE and have two phone numbers along with your GA Driver’s License number.

 

Tuition Details

Tuition is $300.00 and includes:

  • 33 hours of regular weekly group drama instruction including film training and experience plus 20 supplemental hours for costume fitting, group rehearsals, performance, and cast party.

  • At least two 1-hour private sessions outside of class

  • Three private 20 minute in-class coaching sessions with accomplished musician, actor, vocalist Scott Simmons

  • Professional headshot with free access to digital file for printing plus a 4x6 print of headshot.

  • Free access to digital file of entire performance and parody movie to share.

  • Student interview in Dramatic Fanatic’s *new* online magazine The Spotlight.

  • Costume and costume fitting plus props for final performance

  • Professional make-up, sound, and lighting design.

  • Student trophy, course certificate, class t-shirt, and class folder with picture.

  • Scripts and shared music files

  • Admittance for family and friends to closing show and cast party.

 

Available Extras

  • Parents can purchase a business ad or shout out to their child to be included in the playbill. Shout Out Full Page ($35) or Half page ($20). Business Ad Quarter page ($15).

  • Fanagrams will be available for $1.00 each during intermission. Fanagrams are decorative keepsake notecards for writing praises to your favorite actor.

  • Roses will also be available for purchase during intermission for $2.00 each.
