This fun and rewarding eight-week improvisation course is for students ages 7-14. This course will cultivate creative spontaneity through improvisation, drama games, and interactive stagecraft lessons. Following the eight instructional classes, students will be showcased equally in an entertaining closing program on the beautiful Southside Theatre Guild stage in nearby Fairburn.  For students who enjoy singing and dancing, involvement in “Musical Improv” can be a chosen component of the course and show participation. “Puppet Improv” will also be a choice among the curriculum and show performance options. Students who find delight in dressing in character costumes will be given the opportunity to do so during the special “Character Improv” portions of the course and show. This class will nurture performance skills in a very supportive manner that facilitates total enjoyment of the joy of drama through fun lessons and rewarding endeavors that do not require mastering lines from a fixed script.  Enhancement of stage presence, effective use of expression and physicality to convey meaning and the overall development of the student as a vibrant, engaging, memorable young actor will be key goals of the curriculum. There will be a strong emphasis on comedy within the course, but students will be led in increasing their skills as a young dramatic actor as well.

This course can prove to be valuable to any young person as the improvisational experiences provided facilitate aptitude in reacting and responding to unexpected situations, build confidence, fortify team working/ensemble skills and inspire the use of creativity, originality and imaginative thinking.
