This fun and rewarding nine-week course will cultivate creative spontaneity, acting skills and collaborative story crafting through improvisation, drama games, sketch writing and interactive stagecraft lessons. Following the nine week instructional classes, students will be showcased equally during an entertaining closing program on Wednesday, March 18th from 5:00 to 7:00pm at The Town Square Playhouse at 455 Glynn Street South Suite 107 Fayetteville, Georgia. (NOTE: students will need to arrive at 4:30pm for costumes). An end-of-course celebratory class will take place on Friday, March 20th from 4-6:30 PM.

For students who enjoy singing and dancing, there will be opportunities to use and display those skills as well. “Puppet Improv” will also be included. Students will find delight in dressing as a costumed character for one segment of the show.

This class will nurture performance skills in a very supportive manner through the joy of drama with fun lessons that require minimal mastering of lines. Line learning being necessary only for the sketch comedy component.

All other activities will rely on improvisation skills based on learned techniques. Enhancement of stage presence, effective use of expression and physicality to convey meaning and the overall development of the student as a vibrant, engaging, memorable young actor will be key goals of the curriculum. While there will be a strong emphasis on comedy within the course, students will be led in increasing their capabilities as dramatic actors as well.

This course will prove to be valuable to any young person as it facilitates aptitude in reacting and responding to unexpected situations, builds confidence, fortifies team working/ensemble skills, inspires the use of creativity, promotes original thinking and encourages collaborative story crafting.

Regular weekly classes will begin Friday, January 17th from 4:00 to 6:30pm and will end with a course celebration event on Friday, March 20th from 4:00 to 6:00pm.

Students will be provided with a mid-class snack break each class in Room 3.
