Performance Course 1

 

Under the leadership of Certified Drama Teacher Amy Beaucham, playwright/theatre graduate Libba Beaucham and certified teacher/actor/musician Scott Simmons, students will engage in activities that develop stage presence, creativity, dramatic expression and performance skills. Auditioning, stage battle and puppetry skills will also be taught.

 

Class Schedule and Location

Classes are held on six consecutive Fridays beginning January 5th, 2018 from 3-6PM at Kedron Elementary. This course will conclude with a closing program on Saturday,  February 10th, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center.

 

Students who attend Kedron Elementary may come directly to Mrs. Beaucham’s room at the 2:30 dismissal bell to await official start of drama class each week provided that their homeroom teacher has been notified by a parent.

 

Closing Program

Each student will perform a leading role in a scene based on a self-selected character as well as perform supporting roles in fellow actors’ scenes. Students may elect to sing and/or dance in their leading scene or as an ensemble member of another student’s musical scene. The closing program will also include skill demonstrations, stage battle demos, a puppet show, improvisation and scene work.

Detailed Closing Program Schedule

  • 5:45 Students arrive at Kedron Fieldhouse in “Actor’s Blacks” (A fitted pair of solid black shorts/pants and a black fitted shirt. These can be provided by Mrs. Beaucham at the student’s costume fitting time or can be purchased by parent if preferred.) First two performers get into costume. Students and parents take their seats in Room 2.

  • 6:00 Performance Begins with Student Scenes

  • 6:45 Stage Skill Demonstration

  • 7:00 Stage Battle Demonstration

  • 7:20 Puppet Show in which each student performs a chosen riddle with a pre-selected puppet.

  • 7:40  Improv games

  • 8:00 Group Song with Final Bows

 

Tuition Details

Each student’s $165 tuition includes the following:

  • 18 hours of group instruction

  • 2 one-hour out of class private sessions to prepare for the closing program

  • 2 hour performance participation

  • All closing program costumes with a costume fitting by a professional seamstress

  • All closing program props

  • A digital file of a professional headshot by seasoned photographer Libba Beaucham with permission to print

  • Two private 20 minute in-class coaching sessions with accomplished musician, actor, vocalist Scott Simmons

 

Registration Options

1. The best way to ensure your child has a spot is to contact Amy Beaucham at 678-416-6004 or beaucham.amy@mail.fcboe.org. Once a spot is secured by phone or email with Mrs. Beaucham, you can schedule a quick and convenient official registration with Mrs. Beaucham at Kedron Elementary (200 Kedron Drive, PTC). Please provide a check or money order made out to Fayette County Board of Education for the $165 tuition. Checks need to have two phone numbers and a driver's license number on them.

2. Official registration and payment (including a credit card option) can also be completed at the Community School office at 205 Lafayette Ave, Fayetteville, GA. All checks should be made payable to FCBOE and have two phone numbers along with your GA Driver’s License number.
